Pumpkin Carving

We got together with all the kids on the Self side of the family for pumpkin carving last night. An amazing memory! The kids picked their design and Jacob did most of his carving himself, the rest had help. Nathan and Ayana played and played and played in the seeds and pumpkin guts. They had a blast!!
Nathan enjoying the seeds!

Such cute faces!!

Getting Ready!

Here we go...getting ready for sugar over load! I found so many coupons for candy this year that I bought more than I ever have before. I should know better than to have such temptation in the house. Have a fun and safe night everyone...

Doc appointments and tons of shots!!

The past two days have been crazy!! With so many birthdays so close together it is a recipes for more business as I try to get the kids in for their annual appointments. Asjiah and Ayana had their appointment together yesterday and they were behind in their shots...sooooo that meant 7 shots between the two of them. YIKES! They are none too pleased today, sore arms and legs and a bit of crabbiness. Today it was Nathan's turn...he only got two shots but was moody all morning...can anyone say already acting two even though his birthday is next week! In the middle of this, Jacob needed to be taken to the doctor yesterday afternoon due to a toe infection. I have been exposed to more germs than I ever wanted in 24 hours. Good thing I am working out so hard...stay away germs!!!

Halloween Party

The kids were invited to a halloween party this weekend and it was a great time. Several of our friends came together and opened their house, made fabulous food, and helped the kids have a ton of laughs. The kids bobbed for apples, tried to eat donuts on a string and generally just played rough. It was fun to get them all dressed up before trick or treating this Fri. night. Samantha is Tinker Bell, Jacob is a "Youngling" (Which is a jedi in training), Asjiah is Sleeping Beauty, Ayana is a cute princess and Nathan is a clown. And, yes, the big girls let me put fake eye lashes on them and they LOVED them!!!

Yet another "Samanthaism"

So do to my laziness today, I flipped out my hair a bit but mostly just scrunched it to make it look "stylish messy". Samantha says to me, "Mommy why is your hair like that?" and I said, "Well, Mom was a bit lazy today and I kinda like the change." and she said, "Well I think it is crazy, and don't do it like that again." Hahahahahah! Ok, ok my styliasta!!

PS Shane REALLY liked it....now who do I trust more?

I can't believe he did it!!!

He actually let us talk him into tying dental floss to his tooth and the door and slamming the door to get the tooth out!!! I can't believe it! The tooth was so close to coming out and he wanted more money from the tooth fairy!! He definitely will be the poster child for the "Two front teeth for Christmas" song!!

Club Swimming

Jacob has maintained his swimming into the fall and joined a swim club. It is dramatically different from his summer swim team and has taken a bit of getting used to. They are focusing on technique the most and therefore the kids can easily be disqualified for small errors. Jacob, like his mother, thrives in doing a job well and when mistakes are made he is disappointed, however, unlike his mother, he deals with the disappointment quickly and is ready for the next race. He loves swimming and his coach has said on many occasions that he is a natural swimmer and could go very far in this sport...hmmmm, free college, sounds good to me!

BIG milestone!!!

We all wait with baited breath when our precious baby gets their first tooth...and then in a blink of an eye, they grow up, and loose their first tooth! Jacob has had this top tooth wiggling for weeks and weeks now, and today we finally pulled it out. He was beaming with pride and wanted to call his Dad first thing to tell him. How much does the tooth fairy pay these days? In my day 25cents was hitting the tooth fairy lottery...I hear it can be as much as a buck these day. Is there any rule to giving a toy instead? Anyway, we are all proud over here...by the way, three more teeth are loose so he may be asking for two front teeth for Christmas!

Playing is exhausting!

Nathan was playing by himself and then got really quiet, so I went to explore...this is what I found. A sweet boy, passed out cold at 9:45am! Funny little guy! (Notice only one shoe...cracks me up!)

Call me CrAzY

I am so excited...why do you ask? I once again have been summoned for jury duty!! I love history, I love seeing our justice system in action (although flawed at times) and I love participating in jury duty. I have been two other times and have gone through extensive juror selection and enjoy so much the court room environment. I know, I know...crazy!!! It is next month...anyone volunteer to babysit? hahahahahah!

Fabulous weather...off to the park we go!

Can we all say "hallelujah!!", this weather is why we wake up in the morning. We all ventured out to the park last night for a BBQ and play. Since the kids are out of school thanks to fall break, they were dying to get out of the house and release their pent up energy, and so were we! It was a great time! Full tummies, worn out and dirty bodies, we head home as the sun was setting. Enjoy the smiles!!

Family Bowling Fun

We had a great family fun time on Sunday bowling. Jacob has been asking to go for some time now so off we went. The bowling ally has this great family fun pack for 6 and it included popcorn and soda and unlimited bowling for 2 hrs. The kids had a blast!!! (We did too! )

Praise God for the cooler temps!

We all know how mornings can be, and Mondays seem to be worse for us on average, but thank you Lord for this beautiful morning! The kids were starting to bug each other so I sent them out in the back yard and man, the last have 20 min have been glorious. They are playing so sweetly, and enjoying the morning. I love this time of year!

Oregon- evening, day 3

Multnomath Falls is about an hour east of downtown Portland and we are so glad we took the time to go. It was the perfect example of the beauty God has created which He desires to be pleasing to our eyes...and it was! We were quickly running out of sunlight, so I lengthened my shutter speed and the effect on the water is so cool. That is also why we are a bit orange...from the setting sun. Anyway, there are no words to describe the time Shane and I shared...we feel renewed, refreshed and filled up with love for one another and for the kids. Simply stated...an amazing time together!
The historical Lewis and Clark Highway...gorgeous!!
